Privacy Policy
The short version
Oceatics has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking cookies. It does not send anything you do in the aquarium anywhere. The only data it keeps is one setting saved in your own browser: whether you muted the sound.
What is stored on your device
-
One browser storage entry,
aquarium:muted, holding true or false. It exists so the aquarium does not start making noise if you already told it not to. It never leaves your device. - An offline cache. Oceatics installs a service worker that stores the application files (the page, the code bundle, the icon) in your browser's cache so it can run offline. The cache holds program files only, never anything about you.
Both are removed if you clear site data for oceatics.com in your browser settings, or uninstall the app if you installed it.
What we collect
Nothing. There is no account system, no form, no newsletter, no analytics script, no advertising network, no A/B testing tool, no session recorder, no fingerprinting and no tracking pixel anywhere in Oceatics. We do not know who you are, we do not build a profile of you, and we have nothing about you to sell, share or lose.
Hosting and server logs
The site is served as static files by our hosting provider, Netlify. Like every web host, Netlify processes standard request information when your browser asks for a page: your IP address, the URL requested, the time, and your browser's user agent string. That happens at the network level, is used to deliver the site and to protect it from abuse, and is retained under Netlify's own policies. We do not add any tracking to it, we do not connect it to any identity, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Because Oceatics works offline, you can also load it once and then use it with the network disconnected, in which case not even a request reaches the host.
Third party services
Oceatics loads no third party scripts, fonts, or images. The only outside link is the optional tip link to ko-fi.com/advancing, and nothing is sent there unless you deliberately click it and leave the site. If you do, Ko-fi's own privacy policy and payment processing apply, and any payment details you enter go to them, never to us.
Children
Oceatics is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There is no account to create, no message to post, and no way for a user to submit information through the app.
Your rights and choices
Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data a service holds about you. We hold no personal data about visitors, so there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase on request. The one setting Oceatics saves is under your direct control: clearing site data for oceatics.com in your browser removes it, along with the offline cache.
No consent banner is shown because no consent is required: the mute setting is strictly necessary storage for a feature you asked for, and there is no tracking or advertising storage to consent to.
Changes to this policy
If Oceatics ever gains a feature that changes what is stored or sent, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the record.
